There are certain things that make solo, self-employed private practice a great business model for quality of life. However, I also often see practitioners unconsciously setting themselves up to fail by denying themselves the ability to get the full perks of being their own boss.
There is always a lot of excitement and chatter around new business models- and I am certainly as attracted to shiny objects as much as anyone (in fact, probably much, much more...) -- But there truly is no business model that I know of that is as easy to start, maintain, and earn a good living at- while maintaining a really high quality of life- as a solo self-employed private practice.
